We had two guest speakers in the Year 4 classes this week organised as part of the TAP. Alex from the DEPI came and talked about how soil is formed, the types of soil in our area compared to other areas and how our soil is so suitable for dairy farming as we live in the best place to grow GRASS! He also shared how changes to the landscape have occured over time through weathering and erosion. Robbie presented facts and information about the Heytesbury settlement and how the new farmers cleared the land and had to work the soil to make it productive. We really enjoyed making the links with our area and what we are learning about soil and rocks in the classroom.
