The Year 3 classes had the most exciting lesson ever! (Well there was lots of happy noise and intense concentration going on!) They conducted an investigation to find out what animals live in the leaf litter within the schoolyard. We collected leaf litter from three different areas and then went on an animal hunt searching through the leaves and dirt to see what we could find, draw it and classify it from it’s observable features. We discovered there are lots of insects in leaf litter as well as crustaceans (slaters), annelids (worms), myriapods (millipedes) and arachnids (spiders).
