Dirty Science

Creative dirt science – impressing the judges with a map created by using the mud from each paddock as paint.

The judges had a hard job – this cake was baked to show the different layers of soil.

If you look closely the photos are of dirt under the microscope.

So much to see!

The science of dirt and WORMS!

Year 4 Farm Science

The Year 4 students headed off to the farm for a day to learn about the many links between science, maths and farming. At the dairy farm they learnt about animal health (getting up close and personal with a cow), water recycling, the different materials used to build a dairy plant and effluent (did you know a milking cow excretes 60kg a day!).
At the beef breeding farm they explored hay and silage, the variety of seeds used in pasture, farm layout and breeding show cattle. Thanks to TAP our students are learning that all around them are examples of how science and maths are used in everyday life.

Science sculptures created from recycled material.

Term 2: Education Week – This year’s theme was “Scientists do amazing things”

May 18th – 24th
On our  open morning (Tuesday 20th May) the Year 6 students created Electrical Circuits in their science lessons.
During the week, in the classrooms, the Primary students created ‘Sustainable Science Sculptures’ from recycled materials. On Friday morning the whole Primary School participated in a gallery walk to view the sculptures and the Year 6 electrical circuits. Mrs Taylor judged the sculptures for each Year Level.
